Know what's inside the templates

  • Bleed Area Bleed area Ensure your background colour or image extends and fills the bleed area to avoid white edges in printing.
  • Trim Area Trim area This is the cutting area of your print.
  • Safe Area Safe area Ensure important parts of your design (like text and logos) are inside the safe area to prevent cropping.
  • FAQ - Artwork & Guidelines

Ensure that you take into account the bleed for cutting when designing. All crucial elements of your design should be placed within the safe margins. Use vector-based files for graphics and text, created in programs such as Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator, or recent versions of Adobe Photoshop or InDesign that support vector-based PDFs. Avoid using JPEG format for text, as it may result in blurred or misshapen edges. If your design features a combination of images and text, ensure that all images are at 300 dpi and saved in print-ready PDF format. Before submitting your layouts, pre-flight the PDFs using the "Adobe PDF/X-1a:2001" preset, which is available in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and recent versions of Adobe Photoshop CC. Each design should be submitted as a separate single-page PDF.

When creating a print-ready file, it is important to keep several parameters in mind. You should design your layout within the three lines provided in the template, which represent the safe areas and cutting margins. Our templates already include these guidelines. If you prefer to design your artwork or layout from scratch, you should ensure that all your design elements and text are within these safe areas. The cutting margin represents the actual cutting edge. If you’re using a photo or a background colour, you’ll need to ensure that the background of your design extends through extends beyond the cutting margins and fills the bleed area. This way, your design will reach all the way to the end of the artwork edges when trimmed and will prevent any white edges. When using photos, we recommend ensuring there is sufficient extra space around the focal point of the image, so the unimportant parts of the photo can fill the bleed area and the important part is within the safe area.

We support the following file formats: CDR, AI, EPS, INDD, TIFF, JPEG, PSD, and PUB. Please note that files created in Word, PPT or Paint are not supported, as they do not maintain CMYK format and high resolution.

For best results, images should have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi. For layouts submitted in raster format, a resolution of 400+ dpi is preferred. Please refer to our guide on image resolution requirements for different sizes.

For best print quality, it is best to use formats such as TIFF or JPEG in CMYK mode with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.

We strive to closely match the colours in your artwork in the printed product. However, it is not always possible to achieve an exact match as colours can appear differently on every monitor due to different calibrations. Additionally, factors such as paper texture, special finishes, inks used in printing, and media type used for production can affect the final printed colours.

We recommend using CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) for your printing projects to ensure accurate colour representation in the final product. Any RGB artwork will be converted to CMYK before printing.

Yes, we can convert your RGB file to CMYK. However, please note that this conversion may result in colour changes in the final print. To ensure you're satisfied with the result, we will send you a PDF proof of the converted file for review and approval before printing.

We recommend submitting print-ready PDF, .CDR, .AI, .INDD, or .PSD file formats. If you have made your design in another program, we suggest saving it as a prepress PDF before submitting. Designs created in Word or PPT won't support CMYK colour format and will affect print quality. Also, we advise against submitting JPEG artworks for designs that contain text as it significantly affects the overall sharpness.

Sure! If you're unclear, try saving it as a PDF and send it to us. If that's not possible, send us what you have and our design team will assist you in choosing the right format.

Raster graphics consist of pixels, whereas vector graphics are made up of paths that can be scaled without losing quality. Popular raster formats include GIF, JPEG, PSD, PNG, and TIFF. On the other hand, common Vector formats are SVG, EPS, AI, and CDR.

Our pre-press team reviews your file to ensure that it meets the technical requirements such as proper dimensions, resolution, bleed and safety areas, and more.

Definitely! Just reach out to us, select "Artwork Review" as your query and upload your file. Our team will review it and let you know if everything is good to go. Once you receive the PDF proof and approve it online, you can proceed with placing your order.
